However it’s glass eyes are intact, it’s leather saddle and metal stirrups are complete, its four cast iron wheels function, and the rockers are solid and still rock back and forth. This old horse has a beautiful chestnut patina and is a terrific decorative folk art piece. We date this to the 1950s as a replica of earlier 19th century rocking horses and pull toys.

    Vintage Child’s Hardwood Platform Rocking Horse, Glass Eyes, Tooled Leather Saddle, Metal Stirrups, Cast Iron Wheels, Mid-20th Century
    Condition: This is a well-played-with vintage child’s rocking horse with appropriate wear everywhere. The horse is missing its tail. However it’s glass eyes are intact, it’s leather saddle and metal stirrups are complete, its four cast iron wheels function, and the rockers are solid and still rock back and forth. This old horse has a beautiful chestnut patina and is a terrific decorative folk art piece. We date this to the 1950s as a replica of earlier 19th century rocking horses and pull toys.
    This is a beautiful vintage child’s rocking horse probably made around the 1950s. Old nut and bolt fasteners used in its construction attach the platform horse to its rockers. Four cast iron wheels mimic antique horses dating to the mid 19th century and early pull toys made of cast iron.
    This vintage horse is beat up and well used, but has a lovely patina that shows well as a decorative folk art piece.
